Sant Pere de Vilamarics is a little church near the mountain of Montserrat (Barcelona). Several excavation campaigns have been held there since 2013. Now we can explain its historical evolution, from the 10th century to nowadays. There will be a guided tour at Sant Pere de Vilamarics the next july 25th from 10 to 13 h. Sant Pere de Vilamarics is between the villages of Castellbell i el Vilar and Marganell (near Manresa) and you can reach it from the road BV-1123 from Castellbell to Marganell, at Km 3,1. At this point there’s a small path that leads to the church through crop fields.
Next Saturday December 8 at 1: 15 PM will be opening the temporary exhibition “Sant Pau de Riu-sec: 2000 years of history”, in the Parish of the Immaculate Conception of Sabadell.
The next may 14th will be held the Seminar Arqueología de la Muerte, at the main hall of Residència d’Investigadors del CSIC. The Grupo de Investigación Arqueología de las Dinámicas Sociales del CSIC – Institut Milà i Fontanals is organizing the event with whom Arrago is taking part in the research project on funerary practices of the Neolithic “Aproximación a las primeras comunidades neolíticas del N-E peninsular a través de sus practicas funerarias. Proyecto HAR2011-23149”. Our partner, Jordi Roig, will be there giving a lecture on the experience of excavation of burial sites, from Neolithic to Medieval age. The aim is to show the diversity of burial practices and the different types of tombs used by communities and groups who lived in Catalonia the last 5000 years. It is also his will to show the different archaeological excavation systems and methodologies that are applied and are needed to study and record each type of burial structures. The Universidad del País Vasco has just hung the videos of the conferences of the international seminar ” Quiénes fueron, qué fueron y qué hacían. Identidad y Arqueología funeraria entre los siglos V y VIII “. This seminar took place on the past october 17th and 18th. You can watch them here.
