  • Origin: Stratum (SU 7) in the silo E1 of the survey at c/ Gaietà Ventalló, 15 (Mollet, Vallès Or. )
  • Excavation: Years 2009-2010 and 2012  (Arrago sl)
  • Identification number: CGV09-07-1, CGV09-07-2, CGV09-07-3
  • Stratigraphic Dating: Half of 13th century.
  • Material: Green glazed oxiding earthenware.
  • Measurments: Height 15 – 20 cm. Lower diameter 4,5 – 7 cm. Maximum diameter 9 – 11 cm.
  • Description: Three small flat-bottomed vessels with a narrow neck and an integral lip or spout. They have a solid foot and lateral handle. These jars commonly have green glaze cover and thick, well refined and orange paste. Two of them lacked the top part which had been cut to reuse the piece.
  • Model: These pieces are not usual in medieval ceramic collections from the countryside and few examples are known. Commonly they appear with oxiding and reducing firing medieval ceramics from the 13th c. and James I (1222 – 1276) coins. In the Vallès area we can find some of them in the town of Sabadell and in archaeological sites such as the Domus of Torreferrussa (Santa Perpètua de Mogoda), the church of Santa Maria l’Antiga (Santa Perpètua de Mogoda), the church of Sant Menna (Sentmenat) or the church of Sant Pau de Riu-sec (Sabadell). This kind of jars or cruets could be imports from Valencia or be part of the first glazed ceramic productions of the Barcelona area.
